Inspirational Quote

“You can’t find happiness by achieving something; you find it inside yourself”

Volcano in the Ocean

Three men aboard a little boat see a big ship from somewhere unknown. Their country has been isolated for 260 years, since Yellowstone erupted in a near-extinction event. In a panic, they hurry home to tell their islands that someone is on the ocean again.

The GR (The Gethsemane Republic) is an oil and steel society, and they don’t believe that the islanders invented their silicate society. They figure they invented it, and they want it.

The islanders will not give it to them. Over ten years and many visits, the book ends with the islanders and the GR planning to exchange people to learn more about one another. The islanders with a view towards having peace, the GR with a view to taking over the islands and getting the technology.

Prussian Yarns

Desperate to escape the military, Otto von Goff marries wealthy heiress Hildegard von Puttkamer in a marriage of convenience. Even though they are fond of each other, Hildegard needs Otto to help ensure her familys beautiful Prussian estate of Schnwald stays within her control. True to form, when Hildegards father passes away, Otto inherits the estate as Hildegards husband. But the von Puttkamer family wants Schnwald for their own and will stop at nothing to get it.

There Is a Season

In 1860 Prussia, Otto is busy raising his daughter and worrying about his wife, who is under the control of drugs.

A Stitch in Time

You rarely hear men talk about juggling children, work, and household today. Imagine if a nineteenth-century man was in that fix.

Tinctures and Tantrums

Otto tries to find out what is wrong with Hildegard. People have all sorts of theories, typical of the nineteenth century, such as she’s possessed or she’s mad.
